Brain Quest Workbooks
The Brain Quest series of workbooks cover topics for pre-kindergarten through grade six. Each workbook is designed to reflect U.S.-based educational standards for each level. The lower-level workbooks cover topics such as ABCs, numbers, phonics, vocabulary, spelling, addition & subtraction, social studies, and science. The upper-level workbooks cover language arts, reading & writing, math word problems, probability & data, social studies, and science.
There are over 300 pages per book, making these workbooks a valuable supplement to any student's current curriculum study. The pages are perforated, making them easy to tear out and assign to a student or child on an individual page level or by groups of pages. The workbook pages have full-color illustrations and graphics, which make them attractive for preschool and kindergarten students to follow and valuable enough for upper-grade elementary students not to get bored. Each topic within the workbooks is color-coded; for example, in the Grade 5 book, reading comprehension pages are purple, writing pages are blue, and multiplication and division pages are orange—twelve color-coded sections.
The “Brain Box” sidebars on the bottom of many pages are helpful hints providing information if a student has forgotten or is unfamiliar with a concept. In addition, at the back of each book are a few pages of miniature versions of Brain Quest mini-decks; these are small sections with questions and answers covering various topics in the workbook. These decks are ideal for short quizzes and motivational study for classroom activities. It is recommended that parents or teachers remove the answer pages, are located at the back of each workbook. Lastly, each workbook contains a few pages of stickers which can be used as motivation/reward for completing a page.
Summer Brain Quest Workbooks
Summer Brain Quest workbooks are shorter versions of the regular Brain Quest workbooks designed to be used during the summer. The workbooks are designated with two grade levels from Pre-K & K to 5 & 6. So, the Summer Brain Quest Workbook Grade 2 & 3 is for students who have completed the second grade. Each workbook contains approximately 160 pages, an adventure map, and suggested outside activities. Like the traditional Brain Quest workbooks, Summer Brain Quest books are colorful and have a Brain Quest mini-deck and answers in each workbook. The main attraction for students is the colorful quest map they must complete as they progress through the workbook. The map guides the students through the usual academic topics based on ABCs, phonics, vocabulary, counting, shapes, patterns, map skills, and seasons. Though these textbooks are “Summer” workbooks, they are fun to use as motivational material for students who have finished the traditional Brain Quest workbook and want an “adventure” before progressing to the next grade level.
